Exciting guest-pop-theory appearing over at SF/J -- link at right, you know how to find him/it. I have my fairly obvious guess as to who Felizitas is. I don't know many people that would come up with "fauxnoun" and cite Bram Tschiakovsky, but then, I don't know many people.
I'm digging it, b/c there are, you know, arguments, but one cavil: "Social content becomes sonic form," yeah, but the emptying out of one into the other seems reductive; doesn't the social content 'of' sonic form also change in other ways? Stupid example: The testosteroney version of 'punk rock' being reclaimed by, e.g. grrls and queers?
Wish I had more time to get into this.
